When two of the UK folk scene’s finest instrumentalists combine, the result is a tour de force of breathtaking, high-energy performances. Harmonica and melodeon virtuoso Will Pound and powerhouse acoustic guitarist Jenn Butterworth initially joined forces during the lockdown period. What began as a series of remote collaborative videos quickly evolved into an international internet success across acebook and Instagram, capturing the ears of traditional music lovers worldwide.
The duo’s relationship actually traces back to a chance meeting at a folk session in 2018, but it was their live, in-person chemistry that cemented their status as a compelling new force on the festival and touring circuit. In their live performances, Pound and Butterworth play a spontaneous game of “musical cat and mouse.” Constantly improvising, reacting, and responding to one another, they weave virtuosic, in-the-moment arrangements that showcase two masters entirely accomplished in their craft.
Their critically acclaimed debut album, Volume 1, was recorded entirely live over just two days in Glasgow, capturing the organic, breathless energy of their stage show.
