The Klezmatics, Grammy-winning artists who, for 30 years, have served as the gold standard in klezmer’s revival, join forces with award-winning video artist Péter Forgács, to create LETTERS TO AFAR.

Originally a video installation with music, commissioned jointly by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, LETTERS TO AFAR is now a concert presentation with video.

Drawn from home movies of Eastern European Jewish life before World War II, the moving images offer a window into vital communities that were soon to be demolished. Péter Forgács has manipulated the images to haunting effect, and the Klezmatics have composed a brilliant score.
