Songs infused with traditional rhythms from all over the South American continent.
Since she started her quest in the world of song, the path that Victoria Sur has crossed has taken her to diverse geographic and musical landscapes. She has connected them with her voice, full f qualities, and a natural strenght to create songs. She’s active as a singer, intrepid as a composer. Victoria has found a way to connect folklore tradition with the innovation of jazz and the freedom of rock, while keeping the balance between easy and complex in the universe of song. Victoria tested, learned and achieved the knowledge of artists when they become free.
In her new work, Hasta el Nuevo Sol (Towards the New Sun) she has conquered a personal Summit. For the first time in her five albums, she takes absolute creative control and her complete recording shines. Victoria has returned to sounds that she already explored and registered, but this time (with Beto Ojeda co-producing and arranging) she takes them to her own territory: nine original lyrics and a musicalization of a poem by Cuban author Carilda Oliver.
As a custom, Victoria surprises us in every album. Now her music reveals itself as organic and optimistic. Her voice and self-confidence are clear signals. Accompanied by her usual band (Pedro Acosta, Kike Harker and Beto Ojeda), Victoria has prepared a stage show with coreographer Tino Fernandez and playwright Juliana Reyes. Here, the songs, the spirit of earth and the idea of freedom follow an emotional path through her voice.
