Kennedy Band has won fans around the world with its unique and powerful
sound where high octane instrumentals rub shoulders with vividly presented ballads. Nuala released her third solo record ‘Noble Stranger’ (Compass Records) in 2012 to critical acclaim and Nuala Kennedy Band was subsequently nominated Folk Band of the Year in the 2013 MG Scottish Traditional Music Awards.
Nuala Kennedy is an internationally renowned flute player and singer – one of the most in-demand musicians on the Celtic music scene. She has recently graced the cover of Irish Music Magazine, Sing Out! and appeared at many festivals around the world, including Lorient Festival Interceltique (FRA) Telemark NO, Celtic Connections International Festival UK, Celtic Colours International CAN, Milwaukee Irish Festival (USA) and Rudolstadt (GER).
Also known for her self-penned songs and musical collaborations, Nuala has performed and recorded with The Waterboy’s Mike Scott, John Doyle, Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), U.S. songwriter Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy (an album that received 5 stars from MOJO magazine) as well as cutting-edge Canadian composer the late Oliver Schroer (nominated for a 2012 Canadian Folk Award).
Now dividing her time between her home in Edinburgh Scotland, and Santa Monica CA, Nuala has assembled a group of stellar musicians in the U.S., featuring Eamon O’ Leary (guitar, vocals) Mathias Kunzli on percussion (Regina Spektor, Lauren Hill, YoYo Ma) and accordion-whizz Johnny Connolly.
Each member a soloist in their own right, this incredible line up has already proved a formidable musical combination and will feature on her forthcoming album in 2015.
